AUSTIN, Texas, May 11, 2023 –
HID, a global manufacturer of identity solutions, has announced that its latest V-Series fingerprint modules and readers with multispectral imaging (MSI) technology are now certified to ISO/IEC 30107-3 PAD Level 2 standards.
According to the company, the product detects much more sophisticated spoofing attempts based on 3D-type artifacts like those crafted from resin, latex, silicone and prosthetics and ISO 30107-3 PAD Level 2 compliance requires products successfully block 99% of spoof attempts.
The Texas-based company explains that PAD testing determines how effectively biometric technology can prevent fraudsters from gaining unauthorized access through the use of fake fingerprints, also known as spoofing. The HID Lumidigm V-Series products are already conforming to ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 1 standards focused on more basic PAD attacks using two-dimensional images to simulate live fingerprints. Through the testing process, these producdts also demonstrated their ability to prevent financial loss and reputational damage from more sophisticated spoofing attempts using resin, latex, silicon, prosthetics and other 3D-type artifacts.
The HID Global Lumidigm V-Series Line products that are now conformed to ISO/IEC 30107-3 PAD Level 2 include the Smart Line and Secure Line. The company boasts the products offer a superior user experience without sacrificing security. The V-Series Smart Line provides onboard template storage for 1:1 and 1:N matching and the ability to increase security without causing false rejections and user complaints. HID’s V-Series Secure-Line products add encryption and tamper protection to turn fingerprint readers outside the firewall into secure endpoints. Both V-Series lines are available in a USB desktop version and an OEM module for integration into a variety of devices, such as ATM’s and self-service kiosks.
HID Global adds that its Lumidigm V-Series products are among the few solutions that conform with the industry’s most rigorous PAD standards for fingerprint biometric technology. HID claims the products feature its HID-patented MSI technology. MSI technology collects and compares surface and subsurface fingerprint data for both fraud-fighting spoof detection and imaging precision to reduce false rejections and speed throughput across a wider range of skin and environmental conditions.
